Belly Fat Weight Loss

Dieters targeting belly fat and weight loss, need to focus on both diet and exercise to achieve their goals. More and more studies are showing correlations between belly fat and heart disease.

The study found that belly fat is more dangerous than fat in other parts of the body (subcutaneous fat).

Visceral fat: Is fat that is typically found within the abdomen wrapped around internal organs. Because this excess fat is stored in the stomach area, it gives the body an apple shaped appearance. Visceral fat is associated with diabetes and heart disease. While visceral fat is usually associated with a large waistline, individuals with high fat diets are also at risk.

Subcutaneous fat: Is fat that is found directly under the skin. Arm fat, cellulite, and belly flab are examples of subcutaneous fat. Large stores of subcutaneous fat gives the appearance of a pear shaped body.

consensus: Excessive amounts of both fats is harmful to the body. Because visceral fats develops around the organs, it is important to keep visceral fat deposits under control. Thankfully visceral fat is usually the first to be broken down when weight loss is implemented.

crunches vs cardio: Performing crunches will help tone and develop the abdominal muscles. Crunches will do little to nothing however, when it comes to getting rid of belly fat.

Aerobic workouts on the other hand, are of higher intensity and duration. More energy is required and in effect more calories are burned.

A well balanced diet along with regular exercise is key to losing belly fat.
