Follow these tips to decrease the amount of calories you consume per meal.

Eat when you are hungry. This reduces your chances of over eating. Eat frequently to avoid the feeling of hunger. When you feel hungry its because you are depriving your body from the energy it needs. It is simply telling you "feed me!".

Avoid fried foods. Boil or grill foods that you would normally fry. This tip is very important not only for weight loss but for better health.

Consider dark chocolate as an alternative to candy . Candy offers little to no nutritional value. Chocolate is a much better alternative. It is full of antioxidants and is also known elevate mood. for more on healthy chocolate please visit chocolate for health

Avoid fried foods. Boil or grill foods that you would normally fry. This tip is very important not only for weight loss but for better health.

Avoid man-made ingredients. When purchasing food, read the labels! When reading the ingredients, pay attention to the ordering. The first ingredient is the main ingredient (there is more of this ingredient than anything else). As you read further down the label the amount of each ingredient decreases. Avoid foods with lots of ingredients. Also stay away from corn syrup and anything that says partially hydrogenated.

Eat whole grain and whole wheat. Not only do whole grain foods provide more nutrients, they also provide a longer feeling of being full. Be sure to read the labels, companies are now coloring their food. Just because it looks brown it does not mean it is whole grain. Be sure to read my section on whole grains.

Include a serving of fruit with all your meals. Fruits provide antioxidants for your body. By eating fruit with your meal they help make you feel full for your next meal allowing you to eat less.

Try to limit your red meat intake. People that include red meat in their diet have a higher chance of producing malignant cells later on in life. Try substituting red meat for chicken and fish.

Avoid Soda and Alcohol. These two beverages provide no nutritional value. They are empty calories that will make it harder for you to lose weight. Also limit your juice intake. Try to stick with water or fruit juices with actual fruits (not just fruit flavored).

Changing our diet is the hardest thing to do. Take it slow and make small changes to your diet. These changes will eventually add up. A modification can consist of not super sizing your meal or getting the sandwich minus the fries and the soft drink. You can do it and you will be happy you did.
