Fat Burning Exercises

Not all exercises are created equally. This is especially true when weight loss is the goal. The following exercises are high calorie burning exercises.

A note about the fat burning zone: The fat burning zone is the point during an exercise in which the majority of calories burned are fat calories. This occurs under medium to light intensity work outs. The majority of the exercises covered here do not fall under the fat burning zone.

The reason being, is that while more fat calories are burned in the fat burning zone, less over-all calories are burned when compared to high intensity exercises.

Fat burning exercises: These exercises burn high amounts of calories. They generally target many muscles and are of high intensity.

Running - By far one of the easiest and one of the most accessible exercises is running. It is also one of the most common exercises chosen by those wishing to lose weight. Unfortunately not many stick with their running regimen.

To make the most out running start off slow. Determine your fitness level and slowly increase the intensity.

Swimming - Swimming is also a common exercise for weight loss. Swimming is very effective in burning calories because all major muscles of the body are worked. It provides similar benefits to running but is easier on the joints.

Interval training- For those seeking high calorie expenditure in a workout, interval training may be the solution. Interval training involves a combination of high intensity spurts followed by a low intensity recovery for a set amount of time.

Weight lifting: While lifting weights may not actually burn a high amount of calories, it creats lean muscle that feeds off of your fat calories.

These are a few of many calorie burning exercises. before embarking on an exercise program be sure to consult your physician. For maximum results determine your target heart rate as well.
