Losing weight can be tough. There will be times when it all seems like nothing is working and all seems hopeless.
Do not become frustrated just yet. Weight loss takes place when more energy is burned than is consumed. In other words, focus on burning more calories than are being consumed.
What better exercise for burning excess calories than running?
Running is one of the most intensive workouts out there. Before you go out there and purchase yourself a set of running shoes however, you need to create a running for weight loss program.
Below are some factors to consider when creating a weight loss program that revolves around running:
Fat Burning Zone:
The first thing that you must do, is find out your fat burning zone. The fat burning zone is the pace at which you will more burn the most fat calories during your work-outs.
A general rule of thumb, is to run at a pace where you are still comfortable with holding a conversation with someone. The minute you start to breath heavy and can't hold a conversation, you are running too fast and need to slow your pace down.
As your fitness level improves, introduce higher intensity and variety in your work-out plans. Many will argue that higher intensities will burn more calories and in effect more fat calories.
While this may be true, high intensity work-outs are not recommended for beginners. Introducing high intensity work-outs too early only increases risk of injury.
Keep it interesting:
Many beginners find running boring. Find possible ways to keep work-outs interesting. This can be achieved by running with an mp3 player, running with a partner, and choosing different areas to run in.
Do not give up:
Many dieters enter a weight loss program highly motivated, only to give up a couple of weeks later. The problem lies with setting realistic goals. Weight loss will take some time and effort. Do not expect to see dramatic results unless you put in the work.
