Reading lables for serving size is important so that we don't over eat

Food products are packaged in all sizes. The biggest deal is usually the jumbo size or family size product. Consequently we are buying more food than our bodies really need. If we don't pay attention to serving size, all of the extra food consumed will be stored as fat.

By understanding serving size and calories we can keep track of how much extra food we are actually eating and cut back if necessary.

These two are key to creating a successful diet. If we don't measure what we eat, we are eating more than we should. All of the extra food that we consume will be stored as fat if we do not burn it off as energy.

Measuring servings can prove to be rather difficult. Products are not sold in serving packages. Most products contain more than one serving. If we do not read the label right, we assume that the nutrition guide is referring to the whole product as opposed to a single serving.

A serving size for a bag of chips for example, is about 10 chips. Vitamin water and Gatorade contain about two servings per 20 oz. bottle. By avoiding servings, we are literally letting hundreds of extra calories sneak into our bodies.
